First explored under Green Industries SA’s Resource Efficiency and Productivity Grants, it was clear that the Stirling was a very large consumer of electricity and was in need of some reworking. It is very common for hotels to be large consumers of power but to have an ugly roof, as far as installing a solar system is concerned.
With a bit of clever thinking, we realised that we were able to utilise the building next door and run a cable to allow the power generated to help offset The Stirling’s massive monthly consumption.
The next step in the process will be looking at storage solutions and whether the installation is still sufficient for the hotel’s current consumption pattern. Stay tuned for updates!
